Playing Ultra Sun on Citra
Pokémon Ultra Sun runs very well on Citra. It is a demanding 3DS title, so a decent CPU matters more than the GPU. Most modern PCs hold full speed easily, and once you install Citra on Android, recent phones play it smoothly at 1x or 2x resolution.
Recommended Citra Settings for Ultra Sun
- Set the graphics renderer to Hardware. Software mode is far too slow for a demanding game like this.
- Use 2x or 3x internal resolution on PC for sharp visuals. On Android, 1x or 2x keeps battles smooth.
- Turn on the hardware shader. It fixes the black screen and texture issues some players see.
- Enable audio stretching if the music stutters. It smooths out the sound during busy scenes.

Pokémon Ultra Sun FAQs
Can you play Pokémon Ultra Sun on Citra?
Yes, from start to finish. Ultra Sun is one of the best tested games on Citra and runs at full speed on most modern PCs and phones.
Is the Pokémon Ultra Sun ROM safe to download?
Download only from reputable sources and scan every file. We link externally instead of hosting files, but always verify what you download.
Can I trade Pokémon with other players on Citra?
Local wireless trading works between two Citra sessions on PC. Online features like the Festival Plaza do not work.
Why does Ultra Sun run slowly on my phone?
Ultra Sun is a demanding 3DS game. Drop the internal resolution to 1x, turn on the hardware shader, and close background apps. If it still lags, try these FPS boost tips.
Can I use my Pokémon Sun save file in Ultra Sun?
No. Ultra Sun is a separate game with its own save file, so progress from Sun or Moon does not carry over.
