Pokémon Sun at a Glance

Pokémon Sun is a role-playing game by Game Freak for the Nintendo 3DS, and the first half of the seventh Pokémon generation. Set in the Hawaii-inspired Alola region, it replaces gyms with island trials and introduces Z-Moves, powerful once-per-battle attacks. You battle Team Skull while uncovering the mystery of the Ultra Beasts. It is one of the 10 Pokémon games that work great on Citra.

Running Pokémon Sun on Citra

Pokémon Sun runs great on Citra. Like other seventh generation games it is demanding, so a strong CPU gives the best results. Most modern PCs play it at full speed, and recent Android phones handle it well at 1x or 2x resolution.

Pokémon Sun Citra Setup

1. Set the graphics renderer to Hardware. Software mode is far too slow for a game this demanding.
2. Use 2x or 3x internal resolution on PC for sharp visuals. On Android, 1x or 2x keeps the frame rate steady.
3. Turn on the hardware shader. It fixes the black screen issue some players run into.
4. Enable audio stretching if the music stutters during battles or cutscenes.
