Why Play Pokémon Omega Ruby?
Pokémon Omega Ruby is a full 3DS remake of the 2002 classic, set in the Hoenn region of islands, volcanoes, and ocean routes. It adds Mega Evolution, Primal Groudon and Kyogre, and the Delta Episode, a post-game story starring Rayquaza and Deoxys. The remake keeps the soul of the original while looking and playing far better. Playing other generations too? See our Pokémon X, Y, ORAS Citra guide.

How Omega Ruby Runs on Citra
Pokémon Omega Ruby runs excellently on Citra. It is lighter than the Alola titles, so even modest PCs and older Android phones reach full speed. This is one of the smoothest Pokémon experiences on the emulator.
Tuning Citra for Omega Ruby
- Set the graphics renderer to Hardware. Software mode works but is much slower than hardware rendering.
- Use 2x or 3x internal resolution on PC. On Android, 2x usually looks great without hurting speed.
- Turn on the hardware shader. It prevents most texture and lighting glitches.
- Enable audio stretching if the soundtrack stutters in busy areas.
